Idle problem
Just went and test drove a 98 GSR. Drove fine but when you come to stop or push in the clutch, the RPMs sit there for a couple seconds and then drop down to 1500 where it idles. Im assuming the idle should be at around 800 or so. Any idea what the problem could be?

i dont think coolant levels would cause the idle to be too high

just check it
low coolant can cause it to idle high and rev up and down.
another suggestion would be to check the IAC</TD></TR></TABLE>
where exactly is the IAC and what do i need to check on it? Ill be taking another look at it on tuesday before i decide to pick it up

dude try cleaning ur iacv (idle air control valve)...basically its mounted on ur intake manifold behind it by 2 bolts...take it off and unplug the 3 hoses i think and rinse brake cleaner through it...let it sit out and dry for 15 minutes then put it back on and connect everything back....make sure the engine has been off for the past 2 hours or so before startin this project...

- this should answer your iacv questions and hopefully ur idling problems...good luck and let me know how it goes

agree with iacv, also could very well be vaccum leak of some kind. If it is getting air from anywhere other than throttle plate, it will idle high. places to check will be intake mani gasket, tb gasket, all vaccum lines and hoses connected to manifold. An easy way to check is spray carb cleaner on all suspected areas, if its leaking the car will suck the carb cleaner in and you will notice a change in RPM;s

and afterward if the problem persists then simply try adjusting the iac valvle left or right.
