Default Need Help-D15B8(Stock 1.5)Want2Add Vtec Head-Best Way To Go About It?(Searched already)

Wsup guys...
lemme start off by saying that i have searched, and found info on the topic, and while it has been useful, i havent found exactly what im looking for...

I have a stock d15b8 in my 95 CX civic hatch, 94,xxx original miles...we all kno how weak this motor is...im not doing anything huge to it, because my plans down the road include dropping a b series swap in, but in the mean time, i need something to make me move a little faster...

I kno the b8 has 8 valves where basically every other single cam motor, especially those w/ vtec is 16 valve...bottom line...

what exactly do i need(everything specifically, if possible) in order to make my motor single cam vtec?
...and w/ decent power gains? my motor isnt a great platform, but if i can make 100 hp (idk if thats exactly feasible), compared to my stock 70, id be happy...
i believe a vtec head is a direct bolt on, but ineed to run the oil lines right? do i just literally need a complete vtec head and thats it or what? im not too familiar w/ engine heads just yet...also, any idea how much its gonna cost me price wise to get it up and done and running?...

... thanks for the help in advance...

im not a d series person, so my knowledge of these setups is pretty minimal

but i do know powerwise, you should be making a bit more than a stock z6/y8 because of the bumped compression

its actually pretty pepy once all done b8 bottom end z6 head z6 dizzy, y8 or z6 IM ls 60mm TB, headers cat back exhaust,p28 short ram intake, y8 or z6 tranny is a must, i had more fun with this set up then i did my full z6 swap, i'm now b-series needed a little more. I'd do it again in a heart beat, pretty straight forward swap, remember to remove vtec oil plug in block, use y8 headgasket and timming belt, score a ex harness or wire vtec wires to shock tower then repin at ecu plug for vtec. have fun

They say the d15b vtec head has better stock cams, so you might wanna take a look at that. Where are you in nj?

youd be better off finding a EX or SI tranny frist if you dond you will notice little to no gain there fore it would be pointless but yea i have a d15B block and a z6 head runs ok but ive had alot of problems and remeber z6 or y8 head gasket and timing belt and like said above the oil jet is in the block between #2 and#3 cylenders just stick a screw in it and pull t out

^^ considering that a z6 head would have almost twice as much horsepower I'm pretty sure you'd notice more than "little to no gain" even with long gearing.

If you had paid attention you would have noticed he has a d15b8, which has 70 hp.

Well, 136 is close to double 70 hp. And then if you compensate for 1.5 liters but you bump up a bit of compression you get like 130 so it's pretty damn close, which is why I said almost.

Make sure your D15b8 has 4 valve reliefs. I also had a D15B8 in my CX, if I was you I would just go for a complete change over. A complete D16Z6, D16Y8, ZC VTEC, D15b could be obtain pretty cheap. By the time you get a complete head, ECU, distributor, head gasket, and other maintenaince parts you could have had a complete change over. Good Luck, and make sure to SEARCH. Their is PLENTY of info on this subject.
