i like the idea of the carbon fiber wing and carbon hood because o f the weight redution but i never really liked the look of different colors on the exterior of cars, i always thought carbon looks ricey on the exterior. is it possible to paint carbon fiber to match the exterior. for ex, i hava a nbp ep3, would i be able to paint a carbon wing with nbp and have it look factory, but be carbon???? seein what im sayin??
if not lemme know, i think that sounded confusing. Thanks!

Yup, it paints just like fiberglass...just gotta sand it well. If your doing it for weight reduction make sure you get decent stuff. Alot of the stuff out there is just fiberglass with a layer of carbon and way too much resin that are rather heavy.

well i was lookin at the mugen style (real thing is to much cash) wing and i was lookin around but mainly saw the fiber one....with it being a replica, i would not be surprised at all if it was a fake carbon look alike.....any thoughts
I'd like to hijack this thread for a second and have to ask .... (i'm asking from a logical stand point of view here, otherwise i wouldn't be asking)
But i'm startin to feel the same way. . . i have an FG1 and would like the CF hood/trunk/wing but paint matched... would the CF parts that were painted weigh any significant amount more to warrent not painting them? or does it HARDLY make a difference that you could paint it and not see any differnce on the scale?
and yes you most definately can paint CF (going back to the OP now) matter of fact,i had VIS CF mugen style lip on my EM1... had it paint matched, here are some pics
Before..

After..

(WOW btw these old pics make me kind of miss my EM1
)

Corvettes are all fiberglass, theyve been painted for years. Carbon fiber is just weaves of carbon fibers cured in basically fiberglass. Yeah, If i did a whole carbon fiber parts car, Id want to hide it. I mean, we make our own here at skool, and its a fabric, like if you had tweed or courtory on the outside of your car, itd look not finished, same with carbon fiber.
P.S. paint....weighs about nothing. Your whole car probably has less than 5lbs of paint on it.
Unless you got a candy paint job...
