Need help! Car just died!
Hey everyone, I have an 88 Civic DX 4dr all stock. Today I started it up to go to work, no problem. Got to the bottom of my street, no problem. As soon as I tried to pull out, the car just shook and died.
I know it's not the battery, because it's fairly new. The car has plenty of gas
I tried to start it and it cranks but just wont turn over.
HELP!!

Haven't tested anything yet. I had 5 mins to get to work so I pushed it back onto my street, ran up to my house got my Suby and left
Poor civic is still at the bottom of my street until I get off work.
It's cranks when I turn the key, and sometimes sounds like it's almost turning over but then just wont. Will lift carpet to check for CEL when I get home.
I'm pretty sure it gets fuel. I've been driving the car everyday for the past 3 weeks with no problems. Fuel filter replaced less than 10k miles ago.

Just read a little on Main Relay. Seems it's a common problem. I'll pull it out today but I'm unsure how exactly to test it...
No need to pull it out. Just turn the key to the on position and listen for the fuel pump priming. If you can't hear it, then it's probably your Main Relay. If you can hear it then check your ignition switch. It's likely that is the problem if the latter is not.

wow. sounds like the actual wiring from the ignition is getting some type of short between there and the signal input/output at the ecu.
test your wires they are fairly easy.
http://www.hondahookups.com has a manual you can download for instructions how to do this ****.

That link does not work.
So I really want to figure out what the problem is today so that I can make a stop at Honda tomorrow if parts are needed.
Is there a sure fire way I can check the main relay? I'd hate to buy a new one and then find out that it isn't the problem. What can I check and how do I do it?
Thanks everyone.

If you could find a link, I'd appreciate it

yeah they must have just started that. sorry man. otherwise look in the faq section of the CRX/Civic EF threads. it shoudl have somethign up there
Checked the car again yesterday and the main relay is in fact coming on. I thought "hmm thats odd". So I tried to start it and low and behold it works. I ran it for a couple mins, revved it a little, and drove it around my street. Everything seemed fine. No weird idle, no shutting down. I shut it off myself and started it again no problem. Any ideas?? I'm planning to just drive it again like normal tomorrow and would like to not get stuck somewhere
