Break in engine
Hay nice site .. i just got a 06 accord and well i went fast 1 time while i have 180 miles on it will that really make a diffrence to the engine or JUST DON'T DO IT AGAIN! your lucky.

just keep on doing it and when your car starts to burn oil, you'll know why.... the engine needs to be driven conservatively until the specified break in period ends.
which part of what i just posted above don't you get?
engines have a break in period and if you abuse them during that time, you will shorten their life considerably. Didn't you read the manual? does Honda say it's OK to beat on the motor like that? NO so obviously the answer is NO

shouldnt be doing that fast anyways. why on earth would you risk other innocent drivers lives. when acting that stupid, i dont give a damn if something were to happen to you.
today i had someone in an 01 civic just flying behind me, when we got to our exit traffice was backed up, this driver had to swerve right and i almost had to pull into the grass to keep from getting hit @ 70 mph.
i thnk they need stricter laws about this ****, i wanna live my full life, not get cut short because someone was in a ****** hurry

I disagree with you on this point. This is a very controversial subject but when I built my motor I did a "hard" break in on it.
A hard break in seats the rings better. Multiple accells/decells. Check out this link:

I'm certain other people here will disagree, but read the link with an open mind and think about it a bit. Makes a lot of sense.

I'll just stick with Honda's advice on this one.......If Honda does not recommend runnig the engine hard then I would guess that they are right (after all they built it). Unless the manufacturer breaks in the engine themselves during the manufacturing process, I'd stick with the Honda says.

There are as many opinions as there are technicians out there.
My Opinion?
Break it in as you would drive it.
- you can do just as much damage driving like your 90 year old Grandmother as you could taking it Drag Racing.
What you're interested in is the wear pattern that is developed and the matching of parts as they first wear together; such as Piston Ring / Cylinder Wall sealing and crankshaft / bearing insert mating.
I've actually seen chrome piston rings that never seated and cylinder walls with the original cross-hatching even after 10k miles. Driven like a grandmother, they never worked hard enough to seat.
Within reason, break it in like you'll drive it.

proper way to break a engine is shoot 500 shot of nozzz, or with a 12 g shotgun.
most likely you might be alright, just don't do it again.
And give me your info., so I could be life insurance on you...

The main thing you should do is: Vary your speeds. Don't stay at the same speed for long periods of time. The thing that will hurt the engine most is the easiest thing to do. (Cruise down a long highway at the same speed for 5 hours). I think that if you don't drive it at 70- 80mph while your breaking it in. It won't want to do it after the break-in period. It will still do 70-80mph, but it won't like it as much. Get my drift.
However I do think 105mph is pushing it. You don't plan to drive at that speed all the time, do you?
