So far, this is the kit that I have pieced together:

Garrett T25 w/ 2.5'' DP
HKS Turbo Manifold
Missing Link
Vortech (12:1) FMU
Apex'i VAFC
XS Engineering Intercooler (Skyline core)
AEM Fuel rail w/ adjustable FPR and gauge
Tial Wastegate set to 7psi
Greddy Type S BOV
Ordering Oil feed/return lines from Flamenco-T

With only running the FMU and a VAFC, would I run reliably? Im planning to get a better EMS hopefully by summer..im a little short on cash at the moment. But just running the FMU, VAFC, and FPR, will I be ok and not blow my motor? lol. And lastly, should I invest into a intank 255 fuel pump? Im a little new with Turbo stuff(Never boosted a car before). This is all going on a B16. If there are anything that you think I should invest in, please let me know. I would rather get everything I need and not risk blowing any piston rings or killing the motor. Thanks guys, I hope to get some new info

I think you already know the answer about the afc, fmu and fuel pump. Don't lie to yourself. Do it right. I thought I would be fine with an and in tank pump, 450 dsm's and afc tuned.

Your lucky you know the answer before you are running the setup. GL.

 

What happened to your setup? Cuz I've read the a lot of people with greddy kits ditch the greddy blue box and get a Vortech FMU. Even with the kit on, I dont really wanna push it too hard until I have an EMS.


Also, I was told that the Tial wastegate I got has a 7 or 8psi spring, but the T25 boosts till 10psi..is that normal?

All the money you spent on the fmu,fpr,and vafc, you could have gotten a socketed ecu,upgraded fuel pump,and higher flow injectors,and then run uberdata freeware program..Dont get me wrong, there have been people that use afc,fmu and inline fuel pump and get good a/f's but why play around with all that stuff.?

Also isnt the garrett t25 internal gated? Unless you welded it shut or something..

 

The internal wastegate has been removed. Im using an external Tial wastegate.. When U purchased the kit, it included the FMU, FPR and VAFC.

 

uberdata all the way sell all that **** and go to monates.net and get there chip burner and burn your own chips so much easier and it is standalone..... unlimited

 

But my question is, can I just run the FMU, FPR and an intank 255L fuel pump with the AEM fuel rail and still run it ok? The Tial wastegate is set to 7psi.

 

What theyre saying is you CAN run it, but its NOT AT ALL recommended..

 

How come it isnt reccomended? (sorry, kinda new to forced induction)

 

just get a Greddy Emanage ultimate. Can be tuned with a laptop, no need to waste $70+/hr on a dyno~...

If u have OBD2, nothing works with it. Only AEM EMS and Greddy Ultimate.

Dont use the fpr or vafc for now..Just use the fmu with an inline high flow fuel pump for now at low boost(-6psi)..And you'll be fine..And also you should retard ignition timing a tad bit to reduce detontation and maybe even run some colder spark plugs..I mean it is possible to use the fmu,vafc,and high flow inline pump as your final ems to get good a/f's but I dont trust that setup at all..

 

Hrmmm...ic..well the FMU, FPR, VAFC wouldnt be my final EMS, but my temporary EMS. For now, I just want to get the kit running. Then, I will soon upgrade my EMS to eManage ultimate. So are you saying that I shouldnt install my AEM fuel rail with FPR? Only the vortech FMU and a fuel pump?? -6Psi...hrmm..I would need a new wastegate spring. I'll check that out...cuz my wastegate spring is 7-8psi, but the turbo spools up to 10 PSI cuz its so small(from what I've heard)

 

Well the fmu is already a fuel pressure regulator(rising rate fpr)..So you dont have to run the aem fpr also... and at 8 psi with a 12:1 fmu your fuel pressure will be at 136 psi..Thats alot man..Thats why Im saying to lower the boost level of the turbocharger,,The max I would go is 6psi..

 

mmm, ic. If I do install the AEM fuel rail with the FPR on it, what should I set the FPR PSI to? Cuz I think its nice to have a higher volume fuel rail installed..or should I just leave the stock Fuel rail on and just install the Vortech FMU and save the fuel rail for when I get an EMS?

from my knowledge, if ur WG spring is set to 7-8psi, ur turbo cannot spool to 10psi because the wg will just blow the gasses out. now maybe ur thinking (or whoever said that) that it will only spool to 10psi, but i dunno.

 

What I was told was that since the T25 is so small(which it is) it takes almost 10psi to open the 7/8psi wastegate...iono lol...i'll have to see for myself..
