Default Ignition question

I receintly acquired a 91 hatch Si, it ran fine for a while, it actually came all the way from New Hampshire to Florida with no problems. A couple of weeks ago the car wouldn't start, I checked for spark at there was none. I replaced distributor cap and rotor and nothing, so I went ahead and replaced the distributor. Now it is running fine. I noticed that the old distributor had a burned part and I am wondering if there is something else that I need to change that might be causing the distributor to fail.

I was told by a mechanic that probably my main relay is bad, do you guys think that is correct???

Feedback is greatly appreciated

my car still has the same problem, but i replaced the ignition module and coil, so it cant be that, but the ignition timing is off almost 15 degrees. i think it might be an open wire from the igition module to the ecu, because the ecu is suppose to adjust the timing automaticaly through the module.
