Guage needles not lit
I have a 92EX that I bought about 6 years ago. In the first month I had several instances of the dash going totally dark but it always came back on(sooner or later) and after that first month, I never had the problem again. Sometime during the first year the needles went dark and have been dark ever since. All other dash lights work. How are the needles illuminated and is the only common electrical point in the light switch or do they also route through the dimmer?
Does the cluster back light at all?
I'm not sure that I've ever seen a Honda' gauge needles illuminate. Unlike Nissan, which used optical plastic for their gauge needles (transmits light), I believe Honda doesn't.

All of the backlights are lit but I have to turn on the interior light at night to see the gas guage needle or any of the other small dial needles. The only reason I can make out the speedo and tach is because they are a little more illuminated by larger and more abundant numbers.
the needles in my 6th gen are definitely illuminated. there is a bulb behind each needle which lights up and causes the needle to glow red/orange.
I know that everyone that owns a fourth generation isn't riding around and turning on the interior light to see how fast they are going. Maybe all of the needle lights are in series on the same wire. Does anyone have a schematic?
