H22A - disappearing oil problem
Hi there.
Please excuse my language, I'm not (yet) familiar with english mechanical words.
So.
Couple of months ago I've bought my second 'lude, BB1.
Some time ago I noticed quickly disappiaring oil.
First I thought it is normal, but later I found this always happen when I drive at over 4500-5000 RPM for some time.
It's very cold and snowy here this month, so I usially don't go over 3500RPM. And oil level seemed to stay as it was at the last change. But yesturday there was a clear road and I pressed throttle for some time.
The result is oil level decrease from max to min level.
There is NO smoke from the exhaust at high RPM.
There is NO oil stains on the ground under the car.
There seems to be no noticeable oil stains on the bottom of the engine.
I have no clue what is the reason of this and where can oil actually disappear.
If it burns out, where the smoke is?
I know engine was changed to new some time ago, I guess it has about 100 000 km (about 63 000 miles).
My colleague has Mitsubishi Colt. It doesn't "eat" oil even if driven at highest RPM possible (about 6000).
Does anyone have any ideas why this can happen, and what to do next? Thanks in advance!

Yes, sure, I don't give it over 3000RPM until it is at working temp (and dont drive on VTEC until really warm air comes out of heater at winter, 'cos the temp meter shows normal temp a little bit earlier, I guess).
Well, guys, I do understand that it burns oil, but I really worry about quantities. From MAX to MIN during about 100 km (~60 miles)?
It seems too much for me, and sure, I didn't drive on VTEC all the time.
And yeah, you americans known to lllllove russians!

the amount of oil burned in such a short period of time is not normal.
one think to make sure of is, that the car is on a completely flat ground when checking the oil. and to always check it when the car is fully warmed up, with the engine off.

but not right after you've just driven it...

Perhaps its a seal that's only leaking while the engine is in high rpms? I believe that's what is happening to my car. In my case, I suspect the Oil Cooler O-ring, they are prone to leak.
you can burn oil without seeing it in the exhaust. and someone else would have to see it, becuase it is very hard to see it while you are driving the car.
make sure that when you check the oil, the car is on a flat surface, and is level (so hills at all). check the spark plugs too. if they look very dark then you are most likely burning it when in VTEC.
