screwy gauge cluster after swap
before I swapped, the guage cluster was fine. after the swap it does wierd stuff.
for example, when I put the blinker(s) on, the opposite blinker flashes( in the cluster)
and the temp gauge goes nuts.
anyone experience this before?

thats what I think too... So i went to the engine ground, and scraped the **** out of where it was grounding to. The trans and the battery are grounded at the same spot on the chasis as well. I scraped the **** out of that area as well, to ensure it was getting metal. My concern was that the trans and ground shouldnt be connected at the same spot?
otherwise im stumped

Check your grounds behind ea.headlight, the little boxes held up by a 10mm. I had to scrape those becuase I was having issues like yours and I had painted the engine bay first so that messed up all the grounds. Amazing how crazy your car can act when you have a ground issue
Are you speaking about the 10mm bolts that sit to the inside of each headlight?
if we are talking about he same place, thats where I scraped the crap out of it

The ones that hold the little boxes to the insdie of the engine bay, they are grounds as well. They almost look like fuse holders.

i have the same issue but only with the new cluster. when i used the old cluster everything works fine... it just doesn't fit in the bezal.
I have a 1988 civic std with a 1991 dash conversion with 1988 dash wiring.
I think i have to repin the plugs for the new cluster.

Yes you do and its a pain in the ***. Just follow the copper wiring on the back of the cluster and match them up with the correct layout on the new one. I wouldn't follow the color wiring diagram tutorials cause the 88's have multiple red/yellow wires that you may end up getting mixed up if you just disconnect everything and start from scratch.
