Default Random Misfire, CEL 71 & 73

Heya. I recently fixed some stuff on my car and everything was good. No CEL for a day and bam I throw 71 and 73. I replaced Spark Plugs, Plug Wires, Rotor and Cap. Gonna try switching the injectors on a day where I can drive long enough to throw the code, but anything else I should check out before I take it in to see if valves are okay?

You're on the right track. Swap the injectors and see if the problem follow them. (Which means you need to remember which injectors went where..)

well before I relpace everything it took maybe 15 miles for the cels to trigger. I've now driven like 40 miles after replacing the stuff and no light, BUT i can still feel it misfire from the exhuast and the idle is just rough. not fluctuating idle but rough, im sure you guys know. tomorrow im gonna check my injectors swap them around. I do have aftermarket fuel pump on there but my pressure reads liek 38 or something so it seems good. Valves i'll have to get. I hate keep dumping money into a stock civic blah. another 70 bucks for an adjustment

PS: THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE. It's nice to have help when u REALLY need it. Im on the verge of going insane after replacing xxx # amount of parts.

Check the plug color too. Are they White? Black and sooty? Tannish?

I wouldn't waste money on a valve clearance adjustement yet, until moogocow explains why.

what plug color? nah i also read valves can do it as well. possibly they loose or one is bent can sometimes cause a misfire, or even carbon buildup supposely. but thats one of the last things I wanna do. we'll see, i gotta try and get this cel light to come on!

yea what the hell. i replaced cap rotor, plugs and wires and the CEL has yet to come on, and i KNOW it's misfiring. it's a rough idle and the exhuast is not smooth at all. Prolly driven 60 miles now and nothing. but i have vtec been awhile

WTFFF just threw

90 Evaporative Emission Control System leak detected in the fuel tank area

now im scared my car si going to blow up haha. Cel 71 and 73 didn't show, now i got this! Can't be my gas cap, cus it just came up on the freeway, and after all these problems would it be related to my misfiring in any way? i also checked the lines evap(betwene injectors) and everything seems mfine. no rips in the line to the canister and to the manifold

i had the same problem with my 99 civic i tryed everything so i finally said this has to be mechanical sure enough it was i have code 73 and 74. cyl #3 had a exhaust valve with a hole right though it do to improper seating againtiest the head and cyl.#4 had a bent rod.! if i were you i would check the compression of each cyl. they all should be between 150 to 200psi. yea i know it sounds like alot for a sohc but thats the specs. i check that before anything else! good luck with it let me know what happen's
