Default What kind of power does type r lsd hold

I was told in the past not to use this lsd with a turbo application. The other day I was talking to a guy who has type r lsd in his gsr tranny and is running over 400 to the wheels with turbo and has never had problems with it.
So, is this lsd safe to run with high hp and tq turbo apps?

It's do-able but remember this, the more HP/TQ you build, the closer you get to deminishing return. Or simply put the more power you build the more of a snowball affect you will get. As you increase over stock, what the unit was designed to do, the closer you get to part failure.

Not yet, but that wasn't very simple was it? I guess what I'm trying to say, and Mr. Poo I'm sure you'll agree, that the more you build the car, the more "snow ball" parts you'll need to get as well. Say we build a mild turbo ITR with say 300 WHP. Would you run the stock clutch on it? I know I wouldn't. What about exhaust? Sure you can run the restrictive exhaust but again a snow ball part. Now what about traction? I sure as hell would run some sort of traction bars up front. Also what about cooling? You and Chris IIRC have had problems with that. You wouldn't run the stock cooling system.

What I'm trying to say is that when you start building outside of what the Honda engineers designed you need to take into consideration all aspects of what your doing. You can't just throw a turbo on the car and expect it to last. We won't even get into tuning....

When I launch in first gear, my car stands still, but the earth starts accelerating underneath it.

Sometimes, when I hit the gas coming out of a corner, my LSD warps the space-time continuum so that I don't actually turn the car, but the track bends to meet where my car is.

If I hit the gas really lightly, and one quantum of energy is released from my engine, the LSD will split it so that one half of a quantum unit will be dispersed to each wheel.

If I jack up the front of the car and spin one wheel, the universe spins in the opposite direction.

(300-350 WHP here, road race)

Tell us what you're building and how the car will be used.

A 400 HP car that's used for drag racing is going to rip it up sooner or later. The differential wasn't designed with that purpose in mind.

Stock radiator here with turbo and no cooling issues to speak of.

But your point is well taken.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
