Default Flooding at Startup, and Other Fuel Issues.

Here's my dilemma:

First the setup,
Its a built bottom end (stock compression), stock head, Skunk2 intake mani, stock fuel system, stock ecu, gutted cat, no secondary O2 sensor.

The issues,
Flooding at startup, cylinders 3 & 4 washing down the plugs (this is just the immediate problem).
Everytime when I start the car, until it gets to operating temps, it runs like ****, it sounds/acts like its got a monster cam in it. Lots of vibration, some smoke. Black stuff always on the back of the car. Once it warms up it runs like a champ.
I am also getting over 300 miles to a tank of gas?!? My driving could at the least be described as "spirited."

The Point,
What is causing this situation? Why is flooding happening, but happening intermittently? Why does the car run the way it does but only at startup? and finally, why am I getting such good gas mileage all of the sudden?

Thanks,
Mike

Stuck? I don't know, I don't think so, or at least, I don't know how that would affect my porblems. Again, I'm getting great gas mileage, so injectors being stuck on or at a high pulse (i don't know how exactly injectors totally function) don't seem that would cause a problem.

Solution to Immediate Problem (car not starting)
I pulled the plugs and I also pulled the fuel pump fuse and turned the car over for a minute or so or really until I quit smelling fuel. I put everything back and the car started right up.

I don't know how long this will all last or anything though, so I'm still at a loss for the cause of it all.

Hey!

I have a stock base 99 and my problems sounds like yours. The car runs like **** and is hard to start in the cold weather. BUT it runs awesome and like a champ once it's up to operating temps. It's not even running right now cause it wont start but ill try the pulling the spark plugs and fuel pump fuse idea.

EDIT: is there anything else you can let me know so i can get my car started?

Oh yeah i throw codes 45, 71 and 72. are you throwing any codes?

sounds like faulty injectors, or some sort of leak in your feul line.

Just pull the fuel pump fuse and run all the fuel out of the cylinders. The car should start right up.

Mike

EDIT: My car is throwing codes, but I don't know exactly what numbers they are. However, my secondary O2 is gone, (so thats 1 code) EGR is gone, carcoal canister is gone, ummm theres some other stuff, basically everything emissions related........

I'm going to try tomorrow and possibily with new plugs which wont hurt. Hopefully this will start the car since it hasn't worked in the past week.

What about not pulling the plugs but pulling the fuel pump fuse only? Would this do any damage?
