Looking to buy a Civic, got some questions.
Hey guys/gals, Im looking to buy a used civic but I dont know a whole lot about the different models. What I want is a
2-door
manual
moonroof (i think thats the one that opens)
vtech (not sure if they are all vtech)
lots of aftermarket parts out (prob all civics)
ability to turbo charge at a resonable price
and as new a model as possible spending around 8-10k
Thanks for you help everyone in advance, and I'm prob gonna join the board once I get one.
also my sn is: brentlax15 if someone wants to give me some tips on there

92-00 EX or 99-00 Si. Si has the better engine and will run you probably around 6-10K. You can pick up an EX for fairly cheap, they make considerably less power and have a little less potential than the Si does. Good thing is, if you blow it up, you can find a new engine for ~$400.
Oh, and just so you know, it's an acronym, not a word, V-TEC.

you can also browse this faq link to get a lot of your questions answered: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=642479
correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I believe any civic 92-00 that isn't a dx or cx model has VTEC and a moonroof... turbokits are gonna usually be cheaper for the SOHC motor, and with any honda theres gonna be countless fairly inexpensive aftermarket parts available. I would suggest a 99-00 SI as well, You'll love revving that motor up! Usually those run no less than 8k or 9k where I live in oregon

I am pretty sure only EX and Si had the moonroof (my family's 94 LX didnt). As for if it has VTEC or not just check on the engine code and see if that engine has it (I dont know what engines in what cars off hand).

si's have vtec 99-00 have DOHC vtec and 92-95 have SOHC vtec.
only Ex's and Si's have vtec. others are non-vtec engines and some are vtec-e which is down right ridiculous. the difference between a 99-00 si and ex is the engine which is rated at about 30 more hp and maybe like 5 ft. lbs. and also they come in some SI-only colors and they have heated side mirrors, and a different guage cluster. Get an EX and turbo it. for the car and the turbo kit, you could be anywhere from the 8000-10000 range and in the 13's.
