too many factors, as the quality goes up, the weight goes down. it's like comparing a vis hood to a varis hood, no comparison in quality and price. but if done correctly your fitment should be stock and you'll notice the weight loss in the front.

It's pretty much hit or miss. I have friend's who have used VIS and knock off hoods on their cars. Sometimes the knock off look good, sometimes they don't. Sometimes the VIS hoods line up well, some times they don't.

If it were me I would go with a well known shop so that if the hood had a defect it would be easier to return.

I have a carbon fiber hood. It feels like it weighs only a few pounds. With one finger you can lift it up really easy. It fits pretty nice, maybe 98-99% perfect compared to stock. One drawback is that it can flutter around a little bit at 100+ on the highway.

That's why any CF hood should get hood locks.

I have a VIS carbon fiber hood. I have a jdm front though. But the VIS in my opinon tends to be a little heavier then other carbon fiber hoods, but still noticably lighter then the JDM Metal hood. The fitment is 100 percent pefect though. It lines up superb. I have seen some that havn't lined up as pretty though so I would have to go with Opie and say it all varies with every single hood.

Fitment seems to be a continuing issue in regards to some of the cheaper priced C/F hoods. It may line up but a significant gap between the hood and fender is, IMO, unacceptable.

on the fluttering at high speeds issue all i did was drill holes for the factory rubber seal that hugs the top of the front bumper, no wind getting through there

I have a VIS on my JDM front. Fitment really sucks on mine. There is a gap between the fender and hood. I hate it. I'm picking up a metal hood this weekend. Just my 02 cents.

I have no idea what make my hood is, it came from japan and is either J's Racing, Ings, Buddy Club or Shift Sports, anyway, fitment is pretty good. I'd give it a 9.8 out of 10.

you can't go wrong with the quality of a nice jdm hood. i don't think ings made a dc2 hood, but the varis and j's racing are nice. i recently sold a varis hood to a customer with a soarer and i took a close look at it when he picked it up and it was immaculate. it was also $1200 though

Bodykits NW and fitiment and quality is for the money. No complaints.

The hood will "flap" from the wind more so with the JDM front compared to a USDM front due to the design. I have the USDM front and it doesn't move a bit, even at 100+mph with no hood pins.

i dunno about obligatory hood pins with a CF hood. I never saw the point of drilling my mugen hood when there is no flopping whatsoever at 120 mph, it would only loose value... the OEM style latch that comes with it is strong enough IMO... I understand that in some racing divisions they are required though. I would go with a high end hood like the spoon or j's if i we're you, or mugen if your lucky enough to find one... that's if your rocking a JDM front... USDM i'd go with fiber images... good luck

I bought one of a Honda-Tech sponsor, TRT Autotech. I'm very happy with the weight savings/fitment

Oh, and definitely get some hood pins.
