Default GM 3bar VS. AEM 5bar

obviously the aem can read a higher range but are there any other benefits to running the aem?

just trying to figure out if the extra $90 is worth it.

if there is any chance of you going higher than 28 psi, dont get the gm 3 bar.

im not a big electronics nerd, but apparently the gm 3bar doesnt read vac as good. i havent really noticed a difference tuning however.

the aem 3.5 bar is a good median as well...

I use to run 3 bar map before and now I run 5 bar map. Only reason I switched cause I wanted to boost over 28 psi. I think gm 3 bar is more reliable than aem 5 bar. I had one go bad on me already.

The obvious and you can eliminate a vac. line and can just screw the 5bar into you vac. block or intake manifold..

The aem looks prettier and shiny.

You always want to use a map sensor as close as possible to the amount of boost your going to run. If your going to run under 30psi there is no need to even consider the 5bar.

the gm sensor is not as linear as the aem sensors. the higher the boost goes the farther from "real" it gets. they werent really designed to opperate at higher boost levels.

How did the AEM sensor break?

did it fail electronically or did it literally break?

i had a customer bring me an AEM box that he bought online...and (go figure) it had been messed with and wouldnt work...it looked like somebody tried to solder the inside of it with cheezeburgers, poptarts, and mig welds........ sent it to aem to see what would need to happen in order for it to be fixed.......they over night shipped it to me ($60) the very next day with the whole insides replaced free of charge. i couldnt beleive it.

i have an AEM wideband here that gernaded itsself internally...i wonder if they will fix that too. i hear of a lot of failures with their stuff, but i was amazed with the customer service.

this has nothing to do with map sensors, god im awesome lately. im like that random guy who posts crap...and you read it ..and then your like "why the hell did i just read that"

Not sure who makes the new aem sensors, but alot of you probably have the older one made by Kavlico. It's a very good sensor, same sensors motec uses/sells.

ssi sensors are exceptionally good...use them for all our controls and with the motecs we set up. We stock the 75 psi absolute .
