I need your help my prelude brothers and sisters.... i own a 98 type sh and i was driving to a go out to eat well at the stop light i noticed smoke coming out of my engine bay and i looked at my temp needle and it was way up there so i continued to drive to the restaurant i was right there anywaz closest parking too and i went in to eat hopping it would cool down well it did so i decided to drive home on the way home the needle started going way up almost to over heat so i stopped and let the car cool down ... i know if a car is over heating to turn on the heater well the only cold air was blowing out of the heater ummm and needle continued to go up when i was driving the car ... whats going on my car only has 38,XXX miles on it .... i have warranty but don't want to take it in cuz of my mods all the mods i have is a VAFC and AEM Intake other then cosmetic mods also so help me out please i will continue to look into my engine bay to see anything funny thanks everyone

well i just checked the radiator fluid and its just fine but the funny thing is there is tons of fluid all over the street where i drove ... like some fluid is leaking out of my car checked engine oil and thats fine i tried to see what the fluid was it seems like radiator fluid ... but the radiotaor reservor is full but on the other hand the radiator is empty .... here is an experement i tried to check if my fans where working and they work fine they came on when i turned on the AC but they didn't turn on when the car was hot they suppose to automaticly turn on but they don't ???? any ideas ........ god my car is under warranty but i m sure its voided cuz of my CAI and VAFC

 

it might be your ECT, engine coolant temperature sensor....this sensor activates the rad. fan....i think it is located on the side of the thermostat housing....when the car is under 190 F u should have continuity and when 2?? F i forget, it should not have continuity

My first guess was that it would be that the thermostat is stuck, but you say that you are leaking coolant.... Could you have possibly torn a hose? Taking the intake off isn't that big of a deal and neither is the VAFC, so why don't you just spend an hour or so to do it and then take it to the dealer.
