Default Vtec problem

B16A in a 90 CRX DX. How am I supposed to know if the Vtec is engaging? I doesnt feel like it does. So I hooked up a wire from the battery to the solenoid to see if it clicks and it does. The wires are all hooked up right, and I dont hear or feel vtec am I supposed to?

When vtech kicks in (around 5k in my car) you hear a pretty noticable difference in the roar of the engine.

yeah you should hear the crossover..

Your speedo works right? and you have the 2nd o2,oil pressure switch, vtec solenoid, knock sensor, and grounds hooked up..assuming its a stock obd0 pr3/pw0 ecu..And you do have enough oil in the motor,?,and the motor is at operating tempurature?
