Default problem with pioneer head unit. no controls!!

hello everyone, I am having a problem with my head unit and I am hoping someone has had a similar problem and can help me out. I have a pioneer AVH-P7480DVD it is a dvd/cd player with 7 inch screen and an additional hide away unit (brain) It plays cds and dvds perfectly but I have no controls with it. the unit itself has dvd contols on the face and they work fine. the dvd controls on the remote control work fine. other then that nothing else works, the volume stays at a certain level I can not access the menu settings to switch over to radio or adgjust any of the settings. do you guys think this could be a remote control problem? head unit? brain? Any light you can share you be greatly appreciated. I need someones help

If you do not have controls on the HU itself it is not a remote control problem. 94

Do you have a amp hooked up to it? If you dont have the right RCA wire harness for the unit, it causes a similar problem. Or, Pioneer has some kind of front sound stage enthisizing system, when its on you do not have access to some controls.

Do you have the owners manual, it is a pain to get into the right "mode" for adjusting things with that unit?

Did you try the reboot button on the headunit and brain? Use a small pin and press the little button on the headunit and the one on the brain. This might solve your problems. I had this happen back in the day with this unit.

i talked to pioneer tech support, they told me a couple of methods for resetting the head unit and the brain. one involved resetting the processors and the other involved resetting everything. havnt had the time to take out my console so i can get to the brain. I will probably get to it early this week and let everyone know the out come. thanks for all the help so far
