This is my first time ever hooking up a car I have a 2002 honda accord ex 4cyl vtec. I would like to know how people gof rom teh start. I was thinking exhaust (headers, muffler, and if pipe how big should i get the piping, high flow) anybody have any suggestions about this. Thats just what i wanted to do first and somewhere in there get an intake, didnt know if i should get ram air or cool air. please help thanx.

personally, i would mess with the suspension/wheel/tire setup first....this can be the most rewarding investment if done correctly...you will spend quite a bit on the whole intake/header/exhaust system while only seeing marginal gains...so what i would do is:
1st: get a nice set of wheels (16's preferably, something light-weight and not blingin') along with a nice sticky set of tires to compliment the wheels...i'd suggest an all-season tire personally, like the pzero nero or something of that nature...
2nd: get a nice spring/shock combo...you can either do this by getting the two seperate, or going with a full body coilover...obviously the coilover would be the optimum choice for all around adjustability, but you may want to stick with just an aftermarket spring (eibach, h&r, neuspeed) mated to a nice adjustable shock (kyb agx, koni yellow, etc)...
3rd: start bracing the chassis with strut tower braces and sway bars...a rear sway bar will make a huge difference in your handling, taking a step towards neutral handling instead of the mad understeer you will see other wise...front and rear strut tower braces will also help stiffen the chassis a little bit....
after doing the aforementioned, your car will drive substantially different...it may not be the fastest car in a straight line, but you will sure as hell have some confidence when entering corners...the best part is, all of this will cost just as much as a decent intake/header/exhaust upgrade...i think you will also be a lot happier with this setup instead of the bland i/h/e...

Very Well stated!!
i wish i woulda done this before anything the only this i got is a Neuspeed Strut Bar apart from my performance parts the front is very well controlled i wouldnt mind a nice set of springs (neuspeed sports) but its alot more rewarding first getting you car to handle good and then make it fast dontcha think?
Will it be worth having a faster car when you cant control it lol also, alot of people leave out upgrading their brake system. lol (but thats only if your really racing alot or alot of whp)
Think of it as bulding the Frame of a house before putting the walls on.
if you dont have a sturdy frame, the walls mights not hold good enough (hope that makes sense) lol
Truthfully how i make money for my car is either save a little some from each paycheck or w/e my friends want to upgrade their cars ill buy the parts dirt cheap off of them and resell it on ebay so most of my ebay money i put towards my car.
example: Intergra front bumper (West Wing) i bought it of a friend for like 75 and i flipped it on ebay for like 250 plus shipping. just random stuff u got lying around u dont use try to list it and if it sells it sells if not then wait a lil bit and then relist it. and be ccareful when buying parts on ebay like when they have DC-S headers ( DC STYLE headers its not real DC sports or when its listed Greddy EVO2 S
not always will it have an S or a STYLE but it will be like common sense. if things are too good to be true then its probably not.
Also an Intake wont hurt to purchase to get some sound outta the engine its pretty fun but dont go off spendling like 300 on an intake lol do some search. and dont rice you car out with APC lol
Also between Short ram and COLD air it all depends on your choice. Note it would be reccomended to buy and Air Bypass Valve for a COLD air intake. you dont have to but i would suggest it. some say its pointless but i have it on mine for insurance purposes

well said!
Power without control is a little umpredictable!!
Suspension upgrade (shocks, springs, strut bars.. camber kit and rims if wanted)
Intake, Header and Exhaust and short shift (if manual)
Down pipe, pulleys and cam gear.
