ROOKIE PLEASE HELP MY CRX!! CRANK BUT NO START, WONT FIRE
i hv a 89 crx si JDM, with a b16a swap. Last night I changed the thermostat and drain the coolant. After all things done, I started the engine and let it idle for 10mins. Then the car suddenly died and cannot start again.
The engine can crank but cannot start;
I replace the spark plugs and the wires are new;
I took out the spark plug(still connected to the wire) and crank the engine, there is no spark;
I did the same thing as above, but using my friend's good wire n plug, still no spark;
The distrubutor cap and rotor are new, so they shouldnt hv problems;
I took out the cap and rotor and crank the engine; the distrutor is rotating;
All wires are well connected, no fues are broken, and I sure there is a lot of fuel in the fuel tank.
I cannot find the check service connector, coz I m not the one who did the mods, I can only find the 16-pin scanner connect, but I hv no money to buy scanner.
Please help my CRX, I am a poor student who is broked because I hv just spent $500 on repairing the cooling system. I only hv one car and it is this poor CRX. I reli love this car and I need it as transportation.

Did you replace the ground on the thermostat housing? Worth checking since you did just replace the thermostat. But other than that, it sounds like a distributor problem. You'll need to use a multimeter to test the ignition coil and ICM. I think HT member jdmlyfestyle did a write up on this.
Yes, first thing would always to be check all the grounds (thermo housing, tranny, valve cover).
However, good chance either your coil or ignitor are done.
You said your borrowed a friends parts -try the complete distributor and see if it first. If it does, you can then do testing on your coil & ignitor with multi-meter to figure out which one went bad then replace.

the primary coil should have low reistences and secondary should have high reistences when checking the coils (reistences is in Ohms)
Could also be your trigger device i think ur car is a magnetic pulse type
mybe the primary winding is not collapsing which means the secondary winding is not sparking the plugs
can be many many things
