What Cams to use?! I searched!
I know there have been previous threads on here as to what cams to run on the h22 but i cant seem to find them. Anyway... trying to figure out what cams to run on my jdm h22... its got a header, hi flow cat, exhaust, intake, fuel rail, nitrous, and a bunch of other little goodies. I'd rather not do a valve train right now and I dont plan on boosting. (at least not for a long time) Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction...thanks guys

i wouldnt recommend skunk stg.2s on stock bottom end.
2 reasons: not enough comp. to take full advantage of them and also
very tight clearances, skunk will tell you this if you bother to call them.
i have tried several times and they work ok (same ets. as s cams) more peak and alot less midrange. until i pulled the head and noticed the grooves in the valve releaves. (more than once) skunk stg 2s have the highest lift of any h series cam. skunk does not recommend running them w/ stock pistons. of course they dont tell you that until you call them and speak to one of the techs off the record.
go w/ the s cams and keep your stock valvetrain

they might be a little better, but if you arent gonna touch the valvetrain or the bottom end, i'd go with type s cams.

I have no idea what the type S code is. IIRC, the USDM H22 has 10.1 compression. The JDM H22 has 10.6 compression. The JDM H22 Type S has 11.1 compression. Did you buy the car with the jdm engine in it? Check your paperwork. If it was a type S, they would have made it clear.
This thread should have been posted in the 'official camshaft thread':

It is unlikely that you got a Type-S accidentally. And BTW the Type-S has ATTS. Unless you have an SH lude then you probably don't have one unless you did some custom fab.
