Default Motor swap or re-build, what would you do??

Motor: D15B7 SOHC NON VTEC
My rings are shot, i think, I use about 4 quarts of oil about every 2 weeks. I posted my compression tests on another thread.

Anyway, im pretty sure Its my rings and I need your advice.

Here are my options
D15B Vtec 450 bux plus shipping osacamotorsports

OR

NEW rings, Rod bearings, hone cylinders, re-silicone oil pan, new head gasket (take head off) -- unless the D16y8 head gasket that I have on it is re-useable.

OR

I have a Stock D16z6 (del sol) Vtec block in my shop, that Had Rod knock Due to a chick not putting oil in the car. (so Id need new rod bearings,? What else? ) Need to rebuild, What all is needed if it had rod knock?

Since the car is daily driven it would be alot easier to rebuild the block that I have (D16Z6) Honda del sol motor SOHC VTEC

So what would you do? Re-build the block or JDM motor?

BTW, If I do decinde to re-build the Vtec bloack D16Z6 is there any mods that I have to do to put my NON-VTEC Head on it? (I want to use my non vtec head cuz its BRAND NEW ~~ 300 miles on it, and I ported the ports on exhaust and intake sides.

rebuild the bottom end with a slightly higher compression piston...you'll get more power out of it and you know the motor would be all new. With the JDM ones you get the luck of the draw. I had 2 ZC motors one looked great the othe looked like crap but ran ok.

well my thing is:

D15B vtec=450 + shipping, probably 470 to 500 total. + 1 possibly 2 hours down time

Rod bearings ($40.00-60.00), piston rings($30.00-70.00),silicone (oil pan), brake parts cleaner or honing oil(5.00), Headgasket (D16y8 45.00) or stock (d15b7 30.00), + 5 hours+ down time = ? 300 bux or so.

Since you said your D15B7 head is basically new, I say build the Z6 bottom end you have lying around.

Well, it needs rebuilt... All I know is it had rod knock, so i replace the rod bearings, and thats it? I may have to drop the crank, have it turned or whatever, new main bearings, hone the cylinders? Im not sure.

So far we have rebuild motor 1 / D15B vtec 3

Now Im thining my head is ****, the ticking got loud.

And in second gear, the car like hesitates from what 2K-4K then it smooths out. Mabey thats the blow by problem? Or mabey thats cuz the head is ported? or mabey thats cuz I have no muffler? mabey thats cuz the rings are shot? But why only in second gear ? it smooths out after like 4 or 5 K ( don't have a tach)

d15b, less downtime. Rebuild=$$$. With cost for rebuild and parts, you'd be very close to just buying a d15b. Plus you could sell what ever is salavagable from your motor. You may brake even or make a profit.
