Default Making a stronger electrical connection?

The connections on my ICM have either poor contact or they are just simply loose. Any ways to make this connection stronger other than crimping it? And I dont think I can stick copper anywhere... are there any sprays or gellies I could use?

The ICM in the distributor has those 4 connections that plug onto it... I know they either are loose or have poor contact becuase when I crimped them down, it temproarily fixed the problem I was having. But I guess with driving long and the bumpiness, it makes the connections come loose again and my problems arise again.

edit: and wow, Last time I was on here, you only had like 600 -700 posts... come a long way ^

Whenever there is a loose connection between two wires, i always solder the two points together then neatly wrap it with some electrical tape.

Well there's your problem, you crimp them, especially on something critical like the distributor, solder them, and heat shrink them is better than electrical tape, cause it doesn't come off with heat.

... Okay, the ICM has 4 metal prongs that stick out from it (part #8 below).

The connections that I'm talking about slip over these 4 prongs. So theres nothing I can solder or heatshrink, at least by visual observation... if you guys get what i mean? Unless you mean by cutting off the butts, splicing the wire, and solder the actual wire tip straight to the contacts...

no youre not gonna want to soldier those, you would fry the icm....maybe just clean them very well, and then bend down the edges so they slip on tighter...

i cant believe those are jiggling off...i have never seen that before...

Ah, I see... Thanks... so soldering is out... when you say bend the edges... you mean the edges of the ICM terminals right? Yah I tried to even clamp down the connections quite hard, but they still jiggle.

Sorry, to make things clearer if I confused any of you...

These are what the terminals look like... and they slip over those metal things that the blue arrow is pointing too... I tried clamping and it just doesn't seem to do the trick =/

dude just solder them, you wont fry it seriously. just solder as quickly as possible. the dist was built to be subjected to heat.

you dont want to soldier those....they dont need to be soldiered....

just tighten up the clips, squeeze them as much as you can but let them still fit on....

yeah just slip the clips over and then give them a little squeeze with some pliers.

use some pliers and squeeze the plugs down a little, while not on the terminals. If you do it right they will fit real tight, however don't go too far or they will not go on.

You could also use a little di-electric grease on them which will help make a better connection.

If you really wanted to use solder, you could put a solder ball onto the male terminals so that it is larger and easier to retain. It wouldn't be a permanent connection either, which is why soldering is a bad idea.
Another option is to replace that female connector with a new one. The dielectric grease won't hurt the connection, but it might make them slip off easier.
