Swap Opinions?
K I have a 92 cx with a blown headgasket, fried rings, cracked head, the whole nine yards. My question is with a budget of around 2500 should i put another d15 in and turbo it. That way axles n tranny n all wiring could stay the same. Or should i just swap in a complete b16 drivetrain? Its a daily driver so i need something reliable n id like to stay within my budget. Thanks
Get a B18b long block, then get the axles shift linkage and the misc. other **** you will need for a swap. Then find a GSR tranny for your B18b. With that platform if you want to go all motor you are set and if you want to go turbo you are set.
Will i be able to do all of that n still get a turbo for under 2500? I understand that the b18 is a better engine for either all motor or FI but wouldnt he turbo d15 put out more power for less than just dropping in a b18 or b16?

It's all about potential. Spending all your money on a turbo D to barely run faster than a swapped car is retarded IMO. Do a swap this year, save more money and then do a turbo next year. You will be way faster than a turbo d15 will ever be.

the majority of turbo d's put out 200 whp. thats much more than your modified gsr. turbo d can easily put out 250 whp without modifying the block, as long as you get it tuned. by spending only about 1250 for piecing together a turbo kit and making 250 whp, a turbo d does not barely run faster than a dohc swap. a d has great potential and is greatly misunderstood
but im still doing a gsr swap

That is what I would do, the D just won't have as much long term potential and the B will keep you VERY happy for a while until you go aggressive all motor or Boost.
