Default Engine choice's for a new swap

Right now I have a 91 CRX HF with a B16/LSD Cable Tranny. It was running good, but like any modification, it feels slow now. So I'm thinking about doing another swap. Some of my friends say to do a Poor Man's Type R. What suggestions would you all say?

Well, as far as going NA or forced inducted. I'm not quiet sure yet. I want the car to be reliable and street legal. I've thought about building the bottom end of the block for forced induction. Also thought about the LS/Vtec but I've heard some stories about them not holding up. Just trying to see what motor/mods you all would do. Also if you know what the estimated hp/torque range of the motor/mods does, please give your input. Thanks

Supercharge it and call it day

OR LS/VTEC...........and then supercharge it

And drop in a shorter final drive and screw those 24" in wheels. Get some nice 14's. That should accelerate pretty nice

Tires not rims dude. yea I'd like to see someone attempt to get some 24's on a honda god that would look horrible. lol

and I'd go with 15" rims bit larger of a tire selection for that size rim

Man I think you opened a can of worms with this post. You will get every opnion under the sun asking this question. So here is my opnion to add to the hundred others:

You can go broke doing any kind of in depth build whether it's NA. SC or Turbo so research is your best friend here, Turbo done right will set you back the most money usually but also produce the most power. Vortech is about the only SC worth messing with on a Honda but it will cost you a couple organs and maybe even your soul since they are sooo expensive now. I personally love all motor because the kind of power B-series are able to make these days when done right is very Impressive and the power is there through the entire power band. You can build an LS/vtec for the cheapest (most likely) price and have a car capable of 12,s if you play your cards right and the reliability is much higher simply because there is less to go wrong than if you have Turbo or SC setup (you will tend to run alot hotter with forced induction requireing more cooling demands also)

I have heard all the bad things about LS/Vtec but the truth is you need somebody that knows how to do it right! These builds are sensitive builds for somebody that has never done one but I know more than a few people that have over 100k on their LS/Vtecs and they have driven them as hard as I drive my B16. I good LS/Vtec with aggressive cams and high compression pistons can put down 230-250hp on average on a dyno jet, thats alot of power for an HF rex and if you know how to drive well you can definetely run solid 12s in the 1/4.

I love Turbo but I can't afford to build a Turbo motor the right way yet, besides traction is such a problem with FWD anyway you will have enough trouble keeping your wheels planted with a strong all motor setup. My buddys turbo HB ran 11.4 @127 with full interior an AC and he loves it but it has come at a large cost and he has massive traction problems as it is.

There is no wrong way to go here just keep researching and build what you can realistically afford and maintain because really money is the only thing stopping anybody from building a super bad *** car of their dreams. if money was not an issue I would need a 50 car garage for all the cars I would build and play with.
