What's the year of the tranny/car?
And as far as I know you dont have to do anything to keep the speedometer accurate. That's what a VSS is for.

K simple i would suggest at least getting an ex/si motor but if yuo don' t have money for that at least get an ex/si tranny shortest guears and no you just bolt on the tranny and you are good to go

dont worry about another motor. they arent that much more potent unless you stray from the d series or go with boost.

anyway for some real sustanence in this thread:

mista bone is my d series hero - http://home.cinci.rr.com/mistab0ne/tranny.html

as you can see, any transmission is better than the vx tranny. however you will lose some mpg. i say if cost is a concern just get the dx tranny. ex/si trannys usually cost more and you will lose an extra mpg with it.

the difference in ratios from the cx/vx tranny to the dx is MUCH greater that the difference from the dx to the ex/si.

bottom line - pick up a dx thats in good condition

it will bolt right up. and yes i would get the S20 out of the EX/Si. If you cant afford the full D16Z6 swap, do yourself a favor and switch out the VX intake manifold for the Z6/Y8 as it will flow better.

you don't need a wirteup....verry straightforward.....pull off all connections, remove motor, re install new motor reconnect everything, wire up the O2 sensor (VX uses a wideband) and your done.

Yes.

I swapped out my vx trans for a dx trans, its alot better than the wider gears in a vx but honestly you best bet is to find a z6 or y8 trans.
