My sister in law's CL stalls sometimes on a start. it doesnt matter if it's cold or warm, it'll just die. it does it randomly. any ideas of what it could be?

Possibly a faulty ignition switch. There was a recall on the switch on some CL's.

 

I'm 100% sure she had all of her recalls done. She said that this was a familiar symptom right before she had her recall done though. I will look into the ignition switch though.

Oh, and to further clarify, her car DOES START but once it jumps back down to idle, it dies.

 

has the transmission been replaced recently?

 

my 97 cl does the same. most of the time it happens after i drive for a long period of time. it's happened many times even after getting the ignition switch replaced. i've lived with it for years and i kinda got used to it it's time for a new daily driver.
