Default Weird Question.....

i have something funky going on in my car. i recently purchased a 91 si shell, i had a 91 dx with a mini me and one weekend end i swapped everything over. the weird thing is when my key is in the on postion and there is no weight in the car only the break light comes on and the car wont start, but if im sitting in the car and the key is in the on postion all the dash lights come on and the fuel pump clicks on and everything is fine and the car starts. for some reason there has to be some weight on the driver side for the car to work. my guess is a loose wire somewhere and i know im takin a shot in the dark here but i was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem?

Sounds like a shitty kill switch...

Anyone ever install an alarm or something?

Check over the wiring in the dash. In my 93, the alarm wiring came undone and if it hit the frame of the dash it would kill the power the the inside of the car and the engine would die.

Some people have just a regular 'flick' switch to kill gas, some people have a certain pattern of things they gotta do for the alarm to let the fuel pump start (ghetto alarms). Some have electronic kill switch that need the alarm pressed to allow it to start, you might have a weight one, kinda like the airbag sensor ones.

I highly doubt it, but double check with your driver seat.

its not a weight one, im pretty convinced its a loose wire somewhere due to the fact that the dash lights that should be on when the key is on are very very dim and the beeper for the key is very faint but when im sitting in the car the dash lights light up bright and the key beeper is loud as anything.
