Default How long did it take for your mpfi swap?

ive never done one all my swaps have been on si's and hf's. Im going to attempt one this weekend it doesnt seem too hard.

Another thing i was thinking was (not that im going to try this) but if you were to splice the wires from the 2 injectors of a dpfi harness and put 2 more injectors on it could it work (using an mpfi mani of course)? since usually there is gas in 2 chambers at the same time anyway. i was thinking there would be firing order problems and wouldnt know which dizzy to use but i would think it could be done.

Since I've done a couple of them in the last week, I'm down to less than an hour. It's really not that hard. As long as the original harness is in good shape. If the wires are cracked and brittle, you have to run new wire. No big deal.

Thanks, i plan to have the mpfi swap done in a few hours hopefully im just clearing up my whole weekend because i see so many "mpfi swap problem" threads on here.

in theory it should work though, right? maybe not. but i would think if you used 2 more dpfi injectors you wouldnt need the resistor box but it would dump alot of fuel in it, i would think.

Dont half *** this, you WILL regret it later. Be sure to use 20 or lower gauge wire, or your gonna have issues with sensors not reading right, etc.

And of course, depinning:

I found it easer to sharpen the eyeglass screwdriver to a flat blade. I kinda made my own method of depinning with that tool. Push as far as you can twords the wire you want with the blade, and give it some force. Mine popped right out, but then again I only spent 3 hours on the first one figuring that out.

i dont plan on half assing it. i have a 100ft of 18g wire i was planning on using. it isnt even on my car (its an si), its on my friends std that is going to be d16a6 bored .20 over, stock over bore pistons and rods, zex cam and a hmt set up in the next 2 weeks. hes getting the block and head (3 angle valve job) back tue-wed and we're hoping to have it running by next monday.

Thanks for the link for the tool, i heard to use that but it helped alot seeing it.

No you cant just do that, you need to wireup the mpfi dizzy, and also there is a bit more to the injector wiring although not much. You also need to do the wiring at the ECU. Check out one of the Write-ups, or better yet check out a few, i found it helpful when things got a little unclear.

Over all I think I took about 20 hours to do it. It was my first time and I wanted to make sure everything was done right and all connections were soldered and heat shrunk.

Things you should get that arent always in the write-ups people do

Si fuel line that goes from the fuel filter to the fuel rail (there is a difference from the dx one, but I have heard the dx one will still work)

The 90 degree bend coolant hose that goes from the thermostat to the manifold

and the si throttle cable ( you can use the dpfi one but it is really long and requires some interesting running)

It's easy. I just did it to my Cx (or STF, or HF). Took me 4 hours to drop the SOHC ZC in, and it took me 1 hour of wiring...but I was lazy and took 6 months to actually do it all haha. But ya, all the wires where soldered, taped, and wire loomed to look OEM. Proper plugs where pulled and soldered in. Connecting pins for the ECU where taken from a wrecked EF and they look and work like factory. My wiring was done correctly, and it almost looks like it should belong in there from factory, and most people wouldn't be able to tell unless they knew better.

The car starts on 2 cranks of the starter, every time, like a Honda should. My brother hacked up his wiring harness to **** and it hardly runs right/starts half the time. He's buddy switched a whole Si wiring harness and engine for an 91 into an 88, and well, his engine light doesn't come off, ever. The car is confused as to what it is.

Obviously, you can see how it should be done.
