Default what else do i need?

hey all, I found a set of b16b ctr cams and 99 spec itr valve springs that I want to buy. I have a 99 udsm b18c1. What else would I need to rev to 9 grand safely?

i can't think of any reason to go to 9000 RPM with your setup. Do the CTR cams even make power up to 9000?

well, i was also wondering that, i shoulda added that in the question, would it be worth it?

Even if im not making more power, the fact that i can rev to 9 grand will will races cause the other guys gona have to shift alot sooner.

edit sorry i relized how gay and ricerish this sounds, but im serious...

I would guess that the power at 9000 RPM is nearly equal to the power at 7000 RPM. Is an optimized shift point a good enough reason?

not quite. if you are revving where you have no power, you wont be accellerating much, while they are shifting into their powerband and kicking your butt.

ITR and GSR retainers are identical. Check part numbers here:
http://www.acuraparts247.com

The important things are the ITR intake valves, the ITR valve springs, and the ITR lost motion assemblies.

is there any good links to sites where to get itr valves and motion assemblies? Also can I just buy a chip for my ecu to allow me to rev to 9? or what do i do for my computer.

thanks for all the help

I assume that you have an OBDII P72 ECU. You'll need to switch to ODBI. Look into Hondata, Crome, or Uberdata for chipping. You can search here or read some information on this site:
http://www.pgmfi.org

Unfortunately, it is currently down.

With your setup it would be pointless to rev to 9000.

I guess once you start losing races then you will change your mind.

Im just curious but why do people want to rev so high these days? Just last week I remember seeing a guy who wanted to build his motor so it could hold 12k RPM. Now on a serious race motor yeah sure... but on a daily driver... cmon people

ok, but if a civic type-r and integra type-r make power that high, and i have there intire valve train and cams, why wouldnt i make power up there too, not to mention i plan to do all the computer, fuel, and timing work to make it worth it.

ok, i no how peak hp power works and I know that I may not be making power that high, but like dogginator said, by reving high when i do shift into the next gear im already reving higher making more power, so thus it would be worth the little bit of high end power loss in order to get a higher start in rpm in the next gear.

Honda engines, especially the DOHC VTEC engines, have their peak HP very close to the redline. Therefore the optimal shift point is at the rev limiter for the stock engine. By extending the rev range slightly, the HP at the RPM for gear n equals the HP at the RPM for gear n+1. It is an optimized shift point. Yes, the power is declining from the peak HP when you continue to rev higher, however, that power is still greater than say the power at 6000RPM for a GSR.

The expression "you are not making power that high" is a falicy. You are still making power, just less than peak. Detroit iron has been doing this for years.
