HID Retrofit in CRX housing
Hi I came to work today and saw these headlights in the trash after one of the installers had removed the HID bulbs and ballasts from it. The lights themselves are from an Audi TT, and so I ripped apart the housing and pulled the HID projector to retrofit it into my crx. Has anyone on dragva done this before, or do any of you know any good links to the process of doing this. My next question would be, where do I get the bulbs and ballasts from besides the dealer, and what size do I get. The bulbs had a stamp that said D2S on them, don't know if that means anything. Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for putting us out there.
Answering the question:
D2S is a type of a bulb. Just like 1157 are double filament corner bulbs, and 9006 are single filament low beam bulbs.
So you need D2S bulbs along with D2S ballasts and ignitors. The price of a pair of ballast goes from about 150 to 250, and it depends on the brand, if it has external or built in ignitors, and whether the ballast is used i.e. taken from a oem equipped car, or brand new.
I would get used ballasts to save some money, because the ballast will more than likely out live the life of the car. However, bulbs should be new, or relatively new. People will say that it doesn't matter because these bulbs are know to last to 7000+ hours [compared to 300 hours with halogen bulbs], but with time these bulbs loose light output. A phenomenon known as "color shift." Some people actually like this since it produces more blue light.
These are usually people who are into hid kits, who don't understand that the blue flickering is not due to the bulb, but the projector...more precisely the cut off shield.
Just to let you know...you could easily sell those projectors for 130-150 dollars.
Good find

my bad, copy and paste. Thanks guys for the help, nobody on drag even responded to me. Mmm, how much would you guys charge to do this, I'm able to get the bulbs and ballast from this car for a pretty low cost, so how much would you charge to retrofit it into a crx's headlight?
