what do i need to check if i can Vtec my D14A4.

i have a D14A4 engine (16v) . and i wanted to know what do i need to check to see if i can use a vtec head on it ?

I used to have a euro D14z2 and couldnt find much in the way of tuning parts, there are some parts available from Belgium such as cams and the usual filter/exhaust but your best bet is to go with a low boost turbo setup, http://www.homemadeturbo.com is your friend
As for VTEC if you really wanted that there maybe something you can do with a D16Z6 head but it would mean losing your 16v setup and having an 8 valve instead, you'd still gain a few hp thou. I believe this is called a mini me conversion
Another good gain would be a set of Homemade ITB's, the how to can be found on homemadeturbo.com also.
I'd just save for a h22 and put that in, I wish i'd done that with my old EK now, instead im doing it on a 89 shape CRX

The d16z6 head is a 16 valve peice.

i turbo'd the d14... but the turbo took a **** on me.... and blowed the seals. i sent it to the US for a rebuild but your customs compound it from some reason....
now i ordered a T3 from a volvo and im still waiting for it.
so how can i check if the head will fit?

Sorry yeah your right the D16z6 is a 16 valve, is it SOHC or DOHC do you know? I know some of the D14 civics are 16valve, thou I remember someone on another thread disagreeing with me and saying you cant get a non VTEC DOHC honda engine. The ZC or D16a9 is one but anyhow thats another matter.
Good luck with the tuning Turbos seem to be the way to go, if you can do everything mechanically yourself then take it to a tuning shop with a wideband o2 sensor.

i understand you arent in the US but
usdm d16z6 motors are sohc vtec 16 valve
there are a few non vtec usdm honda motors dohc b and d-series all are 16 valve
you cant get a d-series dohc vtec motor cause theres no such thing anywhere

i found a friend that's got a spare head... now i'll buy a head gasket to check it out.
i asked this guy with the Z6 head if he did the ecu wiring itself cause its a pita to do it my self... i dont remember if i told you this but my ecu is a P3Y... cant tell if its a obd 1 or 2...
if you look at the wiring diagram of the P3Y only pins 1 & 2 are for injectors... one is for injectors 1&3 and the other is for 2&4....
and also no vtec....
