transmission help

Default transmission help

i need a new transmission really bad and was wondering what options i have for my engine. i have a d15b. so could i bolt a si trany to it? also if i upgrade to a better trany then i have now do i also need to get the axles that go with the trany or can i use the ones for the trany i got now?

You could get an EX/SI tranny from a 92-95 or a Y8 tranny from 96-00. (These are your best bet) Y8 trannies have steel shift forks and are a bit stronger than the 92-95. Both have very similar gearing though, so that's kind of a washout.

You can reuse your existing axles.

thanks

now then if i was to go to a junkyard to get one. how would i be able to tell the differences between them? cause most of the junk yards around here at hopeless when it comes to info on parts.
