what car are they going into, if its a 92-95 use the 92-95 axles. if its a 96-00 use them axles.

The axles are the same with the exception of an ABS ring that's on some of the Z6's. The ABS ring will NOT affect anything.

PS - Why downgrade transmissions?

slomofo, the 96-2000 axles vary depending on trim. only the 92-95 are identical except abs. basically like i said, if its a 97 ex use 97 ex axles. if its a 93 si use any 92-95 axle.

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread.

So 96-00 axles will work on a 92-95 civic?

The reason I ask is because I can get a set of 96 axles free.

no they wont. well, some might. i will try to be as thorough as possible... ALL 92-95 axles are the same regardless of trim ex/si/vx/cx/dx/lx whatever. only differance is some have abs and some dont. not ALL 96-2000 axles are the same. BUT all d series trannies are the same so if you had a 96 si and wanted to put in a 92 LX tranny you would still have to use the 96 si axles. basically, if you are staying D series use the stock or stock replacement axles for that year model trim.

Thank you for the straight answer.

I guess it works out for the better anyway. $20 for transmission fluid once and a $70 axle once beats spending $40 for the tranny fluid and doing it twice once the used axle breaks.

Napa/Autozone lifetime warranty FTW!

I have a question to, if i got a 95 ex with z6 motor how does my y7 trans bolt up to the mount and the frame? I have only the y7 bracket, that connects to the trans but no motor mount, Ive looked everywhere for this info (automatic trans) its the upper trans mount, and the bracket doesnt even line up to the frame where the mount would go i couldnt use my original mount off the z6 trans cause it did not fit onto the y7. Any help greatly appreciated (i know d series is d series but, not when i cant bolt anything up)

10 year old thread

Read the rules. Don't necrobump. Don't threadjack. You have done both. Also, your autotragic transmission cannot be changed that easily. Make your own thread.
