Civic Si vs GSR Transmission
I did some research to compare how my civic Si transmission might affect my '95 GSR compared to the GSR transmission. I have found the specs with the numbers, but I am wondering if any of you could provide me with more info on what this really means.
'99 Civic Si Transmission
1st - 3.307
2nd - 2.105
3rd - 1.452
4th - 1.107
5th - 0.848
FD - 4.400
'94+ GSR Transmission
1st - 3.230
2nd - 1.900
3rd - 1.360
4th - 1.034
5th - 0.787
FD - 4.400
from what I know, high numbers means higher power (thus greater speed) but at the cost of fuel efficiency. Does this mean that the civic Si transmission actually helps my GSR run faster (even though it may barely be noticable). But what about the final drive numbers being the same?
It would be great if anyone could explain this to me, thanx

it does not mean more power. it just means it is easier for the motor to spin through the gears, thus improving your accelleration. which doesn't necessarily mean bad mileage. our motors are more throttle-sensetive as far as gas mileage than they are rpm-sensetive...meaning you use more gas accellerating than you do cruising. so you may experience slightly lower highway mileage, but if you drive the speed limit, then you shouldnt have a problem.
the si tranny is one of the best for any b series. the gears are the shortest and with the torque you have from the gsr that si tranny is a execellent upgrade
