03' civic Does anyone know how to turn off the maintainance light?
I did it once before but I don't remember how I did it....it was something to do with holding down the interior dimmer/trip odometer switch. How do I turn it off?
dank.. forgot.. but it has something to do with holding down a button then putting the keys into II or something like that.. haha.. sorry
Im not exactly sure, because I dont have the manual in front of me.
But here goes:
With the car off, press down on that button you were saying about and then turn the key in the ignition I think to the "II" position while still holding down the button and hold it for 10 seconds or until the light goes out. I hope that works. Good Luck.

The yellow CEL (in the shape of an engine)? Or the red "Maint Req'd" light?
We're talking about the red Maintenance Required light. That normally comes on automatically at scheduled maintenance intervals.
The yellow Check Engine light means that something's wrong (or something's disconnected, like an O2 sensor or the gas cap).

it's cool! I did it. I turned it off, I just held the trip odometer button down and then turned the key to 2 and held it there for like 20 secs and it turned off!. Thanks guys.
About 25 years ago (****, has it been that long??), Honda had mechanical "lights" that would show at preset odometer intervals. You'd reset them by sliding the car key into a slot at the bottom of the instrument cluster face.

if it's a cel, you might wanna read the code. if it's maint. light, follow instructions above.
