I'm in the middle of a motor swap and when I pulled one of my axles I noticed that the axle poped out from under the boot. I have the axle out of the car but I can not get the damn thing reseated under the boot, what's the trick to this.

I've searched and read that some people had to pull the boot back and reseat the bearings, but other people seem to luck out and get them to pop back in. I've moved mine all around at different angles but I can't get it back in, can anyone help me out?

 

make sure that they are lined up, i'd go get some new boot clamps and actually pull the boot back and make sure everything is lined up i went through this on my em1, there is a pretty decent lip in the hub section that you have to get them in with, i actually used a vice and a rubber mallet and put the axle in and held the hub section and had at it, it sucks but just make sure that everything is lined up right so you don't tear it up
