engine builder in maryland
Does anyone suggest a good engine builder in maryland that can look at my motor. Its been built, and sleeved recently, and I damaged something today, its knocking on the bottom end(timing belt jumped a tooth, and overheated). My previous engine builder hurt his back. BTW its a stroked B18C1 any help appreciated
I don't know anything about engine builders in your area, but I can give you some ideas of what's wrong.
One of your connecting rods may have loosened itself which would cause the piston to knock and the crank rotation to be interrupted, which could offset your timing. The only way to find out is to tear apart the block and look for a broken rod.
Another problem could be poor lurication. Drain you oil and check it for metal shavings. It's possible that the cylinder that developed the knock seized momentarily due to a lack of oil. This piston seizure would also cause the timing to jump a tooth or two.
