Default Need Help Badly!

I have a 88 civic dx hatch and I have sometimes I have a no start. I checked it for spark, fuel from the fuel filter, compression, starter, battery and it has all of them. I was wondering if anyone had any problems like this. Any help would be awesome.

Is there oil filled up where the spark plugs go? Because on my car the valve cover o-rings were shot and there was a load of oil in the spark plug cylinders causing it not to start..Check that out..are you sure it's not the starter..?? Do you hear the starter solenoid click when you try and start the car.?

What more info do you need? About a month ago I checked the plugs and they were new. I'll check that tommorow. How can you exactly tell if the starter is bad? I was just told it was not that. Thanks for the help

When you stay it doesnt start, do you mean that the engine will crank and crank, and just not turn over, or do you mean that you turn the key, and nothing happens? If it doesnt crank, does it make a clicking sound? We need more info as far as what it does when it doesnt start. Sounds like a sensor problem, or possibly a weak battery. Check the battery terminals- is there any corrosion, rust, etc?

It cranks and cranks and makes a clicking sound. The battery is connected good and has no corrision on the terminals. The car is throwing a 4 codes. O2 sensor which I just replaced, Fuel Injector, TPS sensor, and ignition signal something. I think your right on a sensor problem. The car seems to start best when cold.

Go to Autozone and check to see if your starter still works.

have you tried the main relay? tap on it with a screwdriver while you crank it if it starts thats your prob. if its cranking its not the starter. if you say it has spark and fuel then i doubt its a sensor but a main relay is easy to check. just looked again and its probably the main relay if it starts when its cold and not hot. so it isnt getting fuel when it doesnt start. could be ignitor too.

I got to the main relay a little today. I backprobed the relay of the blk/yel wire which ran to the throttle body plug in and backprobed the clip and got .02 ohms of resistance. Tommorow, I will take out the main relay and test that.

Thanks everyone!

If the main relay turns out to be good, then I would swap your battery out for a known good one. You can get some returned ones at Advance Autoparts usually, for like 15-20 bucks, but it helps if you know somebody there that will help you out. And get those codes cleared up... The TPS, and O2 sensor definitely affect the amount of fuel being added, and could really make starting difficult. Possibly whats happening is that your O2 sensor not functioning properly, so the computer adds extra fuel- when its a low ambient temp., and you start a cold motor, its better to have more fuel, because less of it is going to vaporize. So that may be why its easier to start in the cold. At least, thats what Ive heard.
