Default EX master cylinder bolt up to Si booster?

I bought a 91 Civic Si shell that had no master cylinder with it, so I took the opportunity to purchase a rebuilt 91 Civic EX master cylinder to work better with my DA brakes, but the mc won't seat all the way into the booster so that the bolt holes are flush with the face of the booster so I can put nuts on it and tighten it down. Do I have an incorrect booster?

hmmm interesting. i cant give you a confirmation because ive never tried to put a EX MC on any other car.

but what i can tell you is that the EX also has a different booster than the rest too.

maybe that has something to do with it...

so can anyone tell me what master cylinders will bolt directly up to an Si booster 100% for sure? i need to go back to checker or autozone wherever I got this MC and exchange it for one that will work. what about 90-93 non-abs integra?

prelude 88 si and accord 89 LXi will work (same part number). its 15/16" also.

integra wont work.

ive used the ex mc on my si crx. and it bolted right up no prob. and the hard lines are in perfect place like the stock crx 7/8 mc. theres a good chance u got the wrong booster. u can use the prelude or the accords but u need to do a lil fab for the hard lines to the mc.

Mr. cr-x-91 is correct. I have a 91 EX 15/16 MC mounted to my 91 civic si Booster with no problems.

FWIW, the EX master cylinder will bolt up to a 90 HF booster as well. That is what mine has.

i don't always trust reman's from autozone and checker and stuff. for example, that's how my friend upgrades. he buys the new one and returns his old one (which is not the same) as a core. the clerks never catch this. the people rebuilding them might catch this and put it in the right "pile" if the bore size is different, but they might not catch something small different like that.

how taken apart is your car?

with a full interior it is a bitch (especially if you are doing it outside at the yard with not many tools). extensions and swivels are your friends, along with a 1/4 in drive ratchet.

with everything out it is a 5 minute job. 3 nuts and a pin, and lines- cake.

it's really just an issue with getting at the back of it for the nuts, and then finding a way to get the ******* cotter pin out because it is way up under the dash.

I have an 89 prelude Si MC on my 91 crx si. Gotta bend the line a bit to fit.
The upgrade just gives a firmer feel, doesnt do anything for better braking.
