Does anyone know what is up with this? No matter what position the swich is in (the center one is where it should be for this to happen), my dome light will not come one when I open driver or passeger door. It's a 97 LX four door, btw.

 

Check the door switch. Take it out and short the wire to ground. If the dome light, in the center position, does not light either the bulb or the switch at the light is bad.

 

Check the switch as stated, and check your interior light fuse under the hood in that fusebox.

 

This is gunna sound wierd but do you have the stock radio? Or an aftermarket head unit?

 

you need to do some rewiring if you have an aftermarket head unit. its just jumping 2 wires together.

 

check if(if you have a new stereo) you have it wired correctly, if not, check your bulbs.

thats is what was wrong with mine. i had to connect 2 wires behind the radio on my old 98 ex to make the dome light come on with my doors.

 

those rust out pretty good after time.
pull em off and give em a good sanding.

 

i think its light green w/ red , jump it over to light green w/ black in the green plug that was plugged into the radio. if my colors are wrong correct me.

 

its kinda obvious, but did you check the bulb?

 

i have the same problem, i have aftermarket headunit, what 2 wires do you have to jump together?

 

He said that the lights don't come on even when he manually tries switching them on. If he had an aftermarket radio, the lights will still come on if he turned the interior switch to "on." At least mine do.

bump for the 2 wires you have to jump to get the dome light working after an aftermarket deck instal

 

which 2 wires i can turn it on if i switch it to on but what about "door"

by the way the dome light in my wifeys civic wouldnt work in any position either. I had to take the screws out of the back of the switch and take a small piece of sandpaper and clean the contacts. put it back together and into the car , worked like a champ.

 

Bad bulb i bet
