Default help changing cat and sensors!!!! Pleaseeeeeee!

How hard is it to change both sensors and cat? I have a cd helms but my pc doesn't read it and with a little bit of search of my part this are the few things I know so far :

1- there's one sensor down by the heatshield I think, which is call the primary or front sensor.

2-another sensor hooked to the cat.

3- I know I will need some sort of sensor socket or wrench to remove them

4- the cat should be bolt on

I'm planning on attacking this mini repair with the help of my dad next weekend, so please someone enlighten me on this if you have done this before.

Wd40 the **** out of the bolts/nuts
Spray some in the o2 threads before removal too.

You might be able to rent an o2 Sensor socket from a parts store or something.

Dont touch the new o2 sensors probes( the tip that analyzes the exhaust) and use anti-sieze on the new sensors threads.

Before cat= primary o2
After = secondary( checking operation of catalyst)

thanks for the reply man what's anti-seize ? do I have to remove the heatshield or just get underneath the car and onbolt the primary sensor and trace the wire and disconnect it? same with the cat and its sensor? I''m just trying to figute out how I'm going to approach the job.

Anti-seize keeps thing that get real hot(1400F is when cat's light off) from breaking when trying to remove. It should come with your new sensors, if not its like $1 at any parts store for a little tube

The heatshield might get in the way( only like 4 10mm bolts i think holding it on)

I would unbolt both O2 sensors before undoing the exhaust nuts to keep things from moving, or remove the primary, then the cat and then the secondary if the secondary is difficult to get the socket+rachet on while still on the car.

As for the connectors, yes just trace the wires( Its real easy to find the connector, only about 2 inches or wire to trace)

Jack it up( or on a lift)
Spray them bitches
Undo connectors
unbolt o2 sensors
unbolt cat
you get the idea

And if it doesn't come off w/the wd40. Heat up the bolts, you could turn the car on and let it run for like at least 1-2 minutes. And loosent them if wd40 doesn't work.

Instead of WD40, go get yourself a can or two of PB Blaster. That stuff is the ****; i used it when i changed out the clutch, and it freed up bolts sooo fast! Its not even that much more expensive than wd40

I'm buying the cat tomorrow at autozone and I'll measure it when they get it in. and I'll look for that BP blaster while I'm there too

Little? Try massive amounts better. You can actually watch it eat away some of that rusted crap on the bolts. Its a good idea to soak the bolts you are going to be re-using in a cup of pb blaster, it will clean them up very nicely.
