Default what is wrong with my "new" clutch

i just had a new clutch installed in my 97 civic, and when and when i get to say third or fourth gear, its seems like my clutch begins to stick even when the clutch isnt engaged, the rpm would redline and the speedometer needles stays at like 40mph like its stuck or somethin, please help, can i fix this myself or what?

So you're in 3rd or 4th gear, step on the gas and the RPM's rise but the speed doesn't? Is that correct?

Sounds like the clutch is slipping. Did you have a shop replace it for you? If so, take it back. Could be they didn't resurface the flywheel, there is oil/grease on the clutch disc. If they did it, they need to fix it.

I think he's saying just the opposite. Like if he redlines it, puts in the clutch and tries to coast it doesn't slow down, it keeps the motor loaded.

Did you brake the clutch in correctly?
