Default Help.. D15b VTEC swap not starting

hey, I just swapped a d15b vtec in 94 cx hatch. the engine tries to roll over, but can't. there is fuel getting into the cylinders, and spark at the plugs. I have looked over all the connections and they appear to be right. I am however using a p08 automatic ecu. I have used one before and it did not have any problems, but i thought I might throw that out there. there looks like there is more fuel going into the #3 cylinder (noticable on the plug and when looking down the spark plug hole). The ecu is throwing a code 19 (vtec spool) which I expected because i have not wired vtec yet (this still shouldn't be a problem until i use vtec) and a code 21 (a/t lock up) which i expected because it isn't an auto. if anyone has ANY suggestions, just let me know asap. thanks.

when cranked, engine wont even turn over? have you check your starter and see if its ok? could be battery, low battery voltages might not give the starter enough juice to turn the motor over.

If you have compression, spark, fuel, and timming correct it should crank over. Once it didn't for me and it was the engine colant temperature(ECT) sensor that went bad. ECU thought engine was at operating temp and wasn't shooting enough gas for a cold start. If this is the case, unplug the ECT and try and start it.

if its an auto ECU dont u have to splice some wires before the car will run. doesnt it have to think its in PARK before u start it?

ok I got it to start. since I knew i was getting spark, I knew it had to be fuel. I checked everything over and sure enough it was the last possible thing.. my injectors were dirty. after a quick cleaning, it cranked right over. thanks again to everyone!

The D15b vtec motor is a pretty strong engine. I believe it has 3 stage vtec and will pull pretty hard in a CX especially. I've heard of people who have civic Sis (92-95) swapping out their D16Z6's and putting these in.

I have a d15b vtec in my crx (the one on the thumb pic), and I did one on my 2 friends EG's (the CX I was having trouble with, and a VX). I would definately recommend a short geared tranny tho. My DX tranny is perfect for good gas mileage (i get 30 mpg.. and that's not granny driving) and performance, but the VX and CX trannys are still very quick (my friend's VX, which has the longest gears in an EG, still kept up with a b18 EG hatch). My CRX however tho can take GSRs and b16 swapped whatevers.. and that was with my VTEC <U>not</U> working. For about $500 (with ecu and whutnot) they are worth EVERY penny.

Thats cool. Im sold on the D15B. Plus, its alot cheaper for me. Than, the B16. And, ill buy the D15b and slowly build me a crvtec or lsvtec. have 230hp NA. That my hopes to have a built engine next summer. I'll build it over the winter.
