Default New Receiver ....No Antennae Hook Up...??

I recently purchased and installed the Pioneer DEH-7600MP head unit. I noticed that my chassis harness has a wire for the radio antennae but the wiring to the head unit does not. Forgive me if my question is a stupid one and its common install knowledge but this is my first.

Am I supposed to supply a wire or is this a manufacturer mishap?

All other functions work fine, plays CD's etc but I cant listen to the radio? Whats going on?

Cheers.

wait, whats missing. for the radio anntena or for a remote turn on for an amp. On my deh p80mp, the plug for the anntena is a plug that comes off the back, seperate from the harness for speakers and such.

Do you not have a blue or blue/white wire on the Pioneer harness? 94

Yes the harness has a blue wire to the chassis, but the wires that came with the plug to the back of the head unit does not have one.

I had first installed it in my 95 Si hatch but I didn't care about the loss of radio since all I wanted was CD player. But I took it out this weekend and put it in my wifes 4Runner and same thing just a different harness to chassis for the 4Runner and she desperately wants the radio to work. I just installed and repaired the radio antennae the week before too......go figure.

So am I supposed to add a wire to the head unit side where there is a blank hole on the plug to the unit? If so how do I know which one as there are several unused wire holes in the plug?

Please help I have scoured the installation instruction manuals and wire diagrams and have found nothing!

Sounds like the remote wire got pulled out of the deck harness at some point. Just jump power (like from the red wire) to your power antenna wire. It'll do the same thing, but won't pull the antenna down unless the car is off...

Is there any way to get it to work as intended, so that the antennae goes down when radio is turned off? Do all units come like this or am I just special?

As it sits, no. Unless you were to wire a switch inline on that power antenna wire.

Normally, aftermarket decks come with at least the power antenna. Some decks have power antenna and a remote wire.

You should be able to get a replacement deck harness on eBay. I picked one up for my Kenwood deck for like $5 this summer.

Yeah I purchased this thing new in box never opened so it must be a manufacturer mishap. I will be contacting Pioneer tomorrow to get the full scoop. It was an expensive head unit and should be capable of powering up the antennae when the radio is turned on and off......sheesh....

K so I fixed it. There was a wire on the stock radio harness which had a label tagged on it saying that it was for a remote control and it was not a snipped wire like the rest which is pretty misleading. It had a funny shaped connecter too which made it seem like it was for some special function.

Anyhow to Pioneer customer service for not being more helpful and not mentioning that it was to have a double function.

So basically...like most customers you failed to READ THE MANUAL .
Many of the "problems" I encounter at work can be solved with a
few moments of reading over the install/owners manual.

Reapaet after me: Reading is Fundimental...
