Default door speakers

what is a good set of speakers i can put in the doors... i just put some pioniers in there but they were too big for the speaker cradle so i took it out and they fit fine but now the window dont role all the way down because it hits the magnet.... this is a big problem in tampa florida when your car has no a/c even in the winter...

what are you guys using?

when my dad first got hs civic in 89 he wanted a nicer stereo too. he searched for almost 8 months b4 he found a high watage shallow speaker that fit. they were pioniers too 3 ways. i remmber him saying i've tried over 45 kinds and brands.

anyway it's not easy to find quality speakers at high watage.( 40-50W instead of the 14W stocks.)

my sugeston is go to a audio place like audio america (bastards never going in there again. long story...) and find one that best sutes your needs.

EDIT: if u take out the enclusue they will hit the woindow. kinda a stupid design IMO. should be under the dash.

Find out the depth measurements of the speaker and then compare. Thats the only way to know if they are going to fit without buying them first.

What i did is i took the speaker cradles out and just bolted the speakers in. I used like a cylinder spacers and long screws to mount the speakers so that they would clear the window. I haven't had any problems with this set-up and speaker-to-speaker grill clearance is not an issue.

I have a set of eclipse 8385's in my civic. Sound great and fit without having to cut the back of the speaker mount.

Like others have said, you can always cut the back out so the magnet can fit through it.

A good set of cheap speakers are Sony Explodes. I believe the lower wattage ones fit...
