Big Brake Kit on 93 non vtec prelude HELP!!!
I bought a Baer Track Claw system for my 93 lude Si. When I bought the car the sales person told me that I would have to by the steering knuckles off of a vtec car in order to install the brake kit on my car. When I try to buy the knuckles everyone is telling me that there is absolutely no difference between the two parts. I do know that this brake kit is has all of the right parts because I spoke with a tech at Baer and verified all of the part #'s. Do I need the other Knuckles?
if u have a non vtec lude u should buy a brake kit that is made for a non vtec lude, they should know the difference at baer. if u cant find out just see if they fit, the only diffence that i know of between the knuckles is that one has two bolt holes for an abs line. i had a different knuckle on my car and it fits fine, u should have to buy new knuckles bro
I think you should fine as long as it is a full kit and they gave you the kit for the 92-96 preludes. The 97+ have a 5 lug design so the rotors wouldn't fit. But if you got rotors, calipers, and pads all for the 92-96 you're good to go.
I believe for the big brake kit you are required to have a certain inch wheel which i BELIEVE is 17" or you will run into wheel problems. So in short....you cant use a big brake kit with stock wheels.
yeah, vtec model brakes for 92-96 ludes require 15"+ rims, add the even bigger brake kit and you are looking at a few more inches. offset maybe be an issure also. some wheels manufacturers make sure they design their spokes bowing out from teh back to clear brakes, sorry i casn't help you more. i just don't want to buying a set of wheels and tires for $1500 and having them stiff hit teh caliper... what rims are you running now?

Is the actual wheel too small in diameter or it just won't go on all the way without hitting the caliper?? You can use a wheel spacer to move the wheel out a little bit and clear the caliper...
You might also just need to get the VTEC caliper brackets instaed of the whole knuckle.

OK I have 17" wheels and the brake kit comes with its own special brackets and an adaptor to make it mount to the knuckle. I dont know why you think it is a waste of money to put a better braking sytem on a car that is making 400whp. I had a hard time getting it stopped because of brake fade with the stock brakes. Anyway Baer is telling me that I need to swap out the knuckles. Does anyone have any spares?
Looks like your wheels still don't stick out enough. Changing the knuckles won't help as they are identical between the 92-96 vtecs and SIs. The difference was in the rotor, pad, and calipers sizes. You can look it up on http://www.slhondaparts.com/ and you will see that the knuckles have the exact same part number.
Time to get some new wheels. Check out the template you can print off the Baer website and it will show you how wide they have to be.

How much more clearance do you need?? Extended wheel studs might help...

but his wheels right now probably fill up the fender good and adding a spacer might bring up some rubbing issues. maybe not though.. in my eyes the choices you have are
sell wheels and use ones that will work with the baer brakes, or sell the brakes and find another big brake that will work with yoru wheels.. unless i'm not understanding the whole situation..
