Default Automatic transmission fluid change @ 100k?

My 96' Accord automatic just turned over to 100k miles. I hear of people never changing their fluid and some changing it often, what are your experiences? My transmission feels 100% right now, but I wanted to prevent any problems down the road.

Thanks

For best results, tranny fluid should be changed at least every 15k.

For standard duty, Honda recommends multiples of 90,000m (144,000km).
For severe conditions, they recommend multiples of 30,000m (48,000km).

Driving style and conditions vary; so many people choose a compromise approach.
I operate in the Northeast, which is considered Severe Conditions. But, I drive primarily Highway miles.
I have it changed every 50.000 miles

Your's (however) is long overdue; no matter how you measure it

As long as that transmission has gone without a change, I would do a flush. (better safe than sorry)

It may have been changed earlier in the cars life, but I am not sure. I know it was maintained by the honda dealership up until 75k when I bought it.

I do know however that the car was driven by my grandmother (she bought it new off the showroom floor), at under 40mph 90% of the time (absolutely babied) up until 75,000 miles

The tranny feels completely fine....I am going to have the timing belt changed and will have them do the tranny fluid change at the same time.

You can see how the car is still in pristine condition.

Thanks

That's real nice man. One of the few aftermarket wheels that I actually like. Check the condition of the fluid. If it is dirty, you may want to do a flush (three changes, with a 15-20 mile drive in between). Oh, and use Honda ATF-Z1 only. About $4.00 a quart, but worth it. The owner's manual should have the exact capacitiy. Happy Hondaing.

Most cars should be 25-35k, Hondas might be different.

How true, most of them drive like they're in Bumper Cars . The rest are found in the high-speed lane of your local 65mph interstate doing %^$# 30.

God Bless 'em
