Default Whats the best way to shine up old tail-lamps.

I need to shine up my factory CRX tail lamps. I want them nice and SHINY! What sorts of methods and products can I use to get them factory-new? Waxes...polishes...clear coats.... let me know what the best way is!

Cheers!

a buffing wheel with some very light compound should do the trick, check out your local auto detailers/painters and pick up some 3000 grit hi speed polishing compound...
and if you're really cheap like me pick up a the buffer from a big faceless corp like sears, use it and find an excuse to return it once you're done

I use Meguires Pure Wax "Stage 1" on my tails and they come out really shiny. They also sell a plastic cleaner you might want to check out

I agree, use wax. That was what I used on mine and they turned out great.

What i have done in the past is wet sand them with 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper. This leaves them kinda hazzy in the begining, but your not finished yet. Then i'll use a 3m plastic polish or plastic polish of your choice with a buffing wheel. Be very careful cause if you stay in one spot to long it will melt the light. When you are finished your lights should look brand new.

Buffing wheel without a doubt. If they're really bad, a really high grit sand paper will help, but most of the time it just makes them more hazy.

If you have access to a real buffer (not the cheap $50 type) like a detail shop uses, go with that. My friend details cars, and he hits mine every once in a while. They look as good as new afterward.

...here's an idea:

remove them from the car, remove the wiring harness, soak them in soap and water so you get the dirt from the inside of the housing.

Let dry thoroughly, then replace on car.

Next, use armor-all on the lens. Makes them look really nice.
